I am registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. My first fourteen years of practice were with the Psychology Department of the York Region District School Board. I also trained and worked as a therapist at Blue Hills Child and Family Clinic in Aurora, Ontario for many years as a Certified Theraplay Therapist.

I provide a thorough and complete psychological (psycho-educational) assessment and a comprehensive written report. I take the necessary time to ensure that clients understand any problems I uncover. I also guide them on how to take the next steps in order to help the student to be provided with the assistance, accommodations or modifications to the educational programme that may be needed.

About My Practice:

I am a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and have been working in School Psychology for many years. For the first fourteen years of my career I worked for the Psychology Department of the York Region District School Board. This Board is one of Canada’s largest, and it is located just north of Toronto. During this period I worked with many students at all grade levels to help determine the cause of their school performance problems, including learning disabilities, behaviour issues and emotional factors.

Now in private practice, I continue to work with individuals from Kindergarten through university or college level to investigate learning or performance problems. I have worked extensively with students struggling with many different kinds of problems, including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, high functioning Autism (Asperger’s Syndrome), anxiety and many other problems. Through a comprehensive psychological assessment, I help identify specific cognitive weaknesses and strengths, as well as emotional or behavioural problems. Recommendations are provided to guide parents and teachers in ways to address the individual learning, behaviour or emotional needs of each student. For older students, the recommendations help them to understand their individual learning style so they can develop better self-help, study or organizational skills.

In addition to the assessment role, I am also a certified Theraplay Therapist, registered with the Theraplay Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I provide structured sessions of play therapy that include the child and parents. The goal is to help strengthen the parent/child bond, improve behaviour and/or reduce emotional problems. Parents learn how to take back parental control through positive parenting techniques and at the same time learn ways to interact and have fun together as a family.
